A total of 59,783 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Hajj. They traveled to the Middle Eastern country on a total of 154 flights.
This information was reported in the latest Hajj-related bulletin published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Sunday (May 17).
According to information from airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Hajj Office Dhaka, and Saudi Arabian sources, these pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia by 3 AM on Sunday, May 17 (following Saturday, May 16).
The bulletin stated that Biman Bangladesh Airlines transported 30,844 pilgrims on 78 flights. Additionally, Saudi Airlines carried 20,080 pilgrims on 54 flights, and Flynas Airlines transported another 8,859 Bangladeshi pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for Hajj.
Out of the total pilgrims, 4,444 traveled under government management and 55,339 under private management.
The Hajj bulletin also reported the death of one more Bangladeshi pilgrim in Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number of deaths this season to 16. Among the deceased, 12 were men and four were women. Twelve of them died in Makkah, and four in Madinah.
Subject to moon sighting, the holy Hajj is scheduled to take place on May 26. The first flight for pilgrims from Bangladesh departed for Jeddah on April 18. Return flights are scheduled to begin on May 30, after the Hajj.
