He stated that, on average, $130.7 million in remittances arrived daily in the first 19 days of May. The total remittance for the same period last year was $1.793 billion. Consequently, there has been a significant increase in the flow of expatriate income over the past year.

From July of the current 2025-26 fiscal year until May 19, total remittances amounted to $31.816 billion. This is 38.50 percent higher compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

According to banking officials, expatriates are sending extra money to their families and relatives in Bangladesh ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, which has further strengthened the flow of remittances.

Earlier, in March of this year, the country received $3.75505 billion, which set a new record for the highest single-month remittance in Bangladesh’s history. In April, $3.1273 billion was received.
