The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced a reduction in gold prices in the domestic market ahead of Eid. According to the new decision, the price of gold has been decreased by BDT 2,158 per vori. The new prices became effective from 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 23.
In a press release on Saturday morning, Bajus stated that the new gold prices have been set considering the overall situation due to a decrease in the price of acid gold or pure gold in the local market.
According to the new rates, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at BDT 235,963 per vori (11.664 grams). Additionally, the price of 21-carat gold is BDT 225,232 per vori, 18-carat gold is BDT 193,039 per vori, and traditional method gold is BDT 157,231 per vori.
Previously, Bajus had increased gold prices on May 21. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was BDT 238,121 per vori. The price per vori was also adjusted by BDT 2,158 at that time.
So far this year, gold prices in the domestic market have been adjusted a total of 68 times. Out of these, prices increased 36 times and decreased 32 times. In 2025, gold prices were adjusted a total of 93 times, with increases 64 times and decreases 29 times.
On the other hand, despite the reduction in gold prices, the silver market remains unchanged. Currently, 22-carat silver is being sold at BDT 5,657 per vori, 21-carat silver at BDT 5,365 per vori, 18-carat silver at BDT 4,607 per vori, and traditional method silver at BDT 3,441 per vori.
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 39 times. Out of these, prices increased 21 times and decreased 18 times.
